Borehamwood is well-known for it’s film connections – being the home to several studios since the 1920s. Most have since gone but Borehamwood can be seen in many final cuts of British films. TVs Inspector Morse series was set in Oxford yet much was filmed in Hertfordshire and many location shots were filmed on the streets of Borehamwood! Today the BBCs soap-opera Eastenders is filmed at one set of studios.

There is a large public swimming pool, a multiplex cinema, ten-pin bowling (The Metropolis Centre), several parks (one featuring a lake), tennis courts and the initial third of the Watling Chase Timberland Trail. A par 71 golf course is nearby in Elstree too. The town centre is modern, encompassing a two-storey Tesco and a redeveloped Shopping Park, with many bars, pubs, restaurants and cafes.
