When the Valentine’s question of “Alcohol or flowers?” comes up in our house, we reply, “Why not both? At the same time. In the same glass.” Maybe it’s just that we like to cut to the chase on romantic holidays, but it’s more likely the fact that there are few drinks we feel are more baum-chicka-baum-baum inducing than our Valentines cocktails.
- 2 ounces dry gin
- 1 ounce hibiscus-infused dry vermouth
- 1/2 ounce rose syrup
- 2-3 drops freshly squeezed lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into a chilled martini/coupe glass.
Garnish with a rose petal.
THE LITTLE KISS
- 1⁄4 oz Strawberry shrub
- 1⁄4 oz White crème de cacao
- 3 oz Champagne
- Add the strawberry shrub and crème de cacao to a chilled Champagne flute.
- Slowly pour in the Champagne and garnish with a woodland strawberry or a tiny regular strawberry.
PREPARATION: Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Mash the strawberries with a muddler or fork. Strain, and refrigerate (preferably overnight) before using.

- 1 Rosemary sprig
- 1 oz honey
